MORNING DROP OFF AND PICK UP ZONE/DRIVE GATES
-
Only the Hearst gates are unlocked for access during drop off and pick up times. (We discourage families from using the Lincoln Ave entrance for drop off or pick up, students are not supposed to be in the building until they walk in with their class.)
-
Use Hearst Ave traveling east (Lincoln --> Hearst) for drop off by car. Use Scenic Ave traveling west to exit the neighborhood and return to Lincoln Ave.
-
HEARST and SCENIC are one way streets during drop off in the mornings and pick up in the afternoons.
-
Red Zone on LINCOLN: The red area on the map indicates no stopping on Lincoln Ave. Do not drop off or pick up in this zone.
-
Blue Gate on HEARST: The blue area on the map is a car queue waiting to pull forward (there is also a disabled parking space in this area). Do not drop off or pick up in this zone.
-
Green Gate on HEARST: The green area on the map is the same car drop off and pick up zone in the morning and afternoon.
-
Please pull over to the right hand curb when stopping to let your child in or out of the car on Hearst Ave. Please no parking or unattended cars on the school side of Hearst Ave or green gate during drop off and pick up.
Walking or parking in the neighborhood
-
To reduce traffic in our dense residential neighborhood, we highly recommend parking and/or walking to the school.
-
Please do not double park, block the street or block neighbors' access to their driveways.
-
Be sure to use the cross walks! Orange flags are provided for extra safety to ensure cars can see you.
-
Only Hearst Ave gates and the front doors on Lincoln Ave are unlocked for access during drop off and pick up times.
Below is a map of nearby safe areas to park and walk students to school in less than 5 minutes with other fellow Squirrels. Arranging walking buses from these points with small friend groups are also highly encouraged.
AFTERCARE
Sequoia Elementary has an on-site aftercare program called Healthy Start that is run by East Bay Agency for Children (EBAC). Healthy Start serves over 200 Sequoia students at an adult to kid ratio of 1:10 for TK and Kindergarten and 1:20 for 1st through 5th graders. The program has been run for many years by Sequoia parent Deanna Grant (deanna.grant@ebac.org), and you can reach out to her with questions or contact the program director Reka Lal (reka@ebac.org). Enrollment is offered to continuing students and their siblings in the late spring, and open enrollment applications are released in the early summer (May/June).
We have compiled an Aftercare and Summer Camp Directory (embedded below so that you can quickly scroll through). Please feel free to add information to this sheet that can help other squirrel families.
