Attendance
If you need to report an absence please email the Attendance Specialist at nubia.benitez@ousd.org please include your student's name, teacher's name, and reason for the absence.
Please note: The following are the only reasons an absence will be considered excused per OUSD: dentist appointment, doctor's appointment, eye doctor's appointment, chiropractic appointment, funeral for immediate family (1 day in state and 3 days out of state), illness, quarantined, jury duty, and religious holiday.
If a student is absent for more than three days due to illness we ask that you please provide a doctor's note for our school records. Also, when a student has had 14 absences in the school year for illness (the absences do not have to be consecutive), additional absences for illness thereafter will require a doctor's note or they will be considered unexcused.
Student Attendance Review Team (SART)
SART is a school-site team that works to improve the attendance of identified students and interrupt patterns of chronic absence.
