After-School Program
Healthy Start Program
Sequoia Elementary has an on-site aftercare program called Healthy Start run by East Bay Agency for Children (EBAC). Healthy Start serves over 200 Sequoia students at an adult to kid ratio of 1:10 for TK and Kindergarten and 1:20 for 1st through 5th graders.
The program director is LeAnn Runnels. Please reach out to Ms. LeAnn (leann.runnels@ousd.org), with questions.
Enrollment applications are usually released in late spring and families are notified about placement in June.
Overview of the Healthy Start Program
The East Bay Agency for Children's comprehensive afterschool program for TK-5th grade provides academic support along with enrichment activities, such as arts & crafts, cooking, gardening, and music to enhance students' social and emotional competency.
The vision of Sequoia Healthy Start Program is that every student's spark is kindled, nurtured, and encouraged to radiate. The funding from family program fees supports the program's major goal of supporting student success through academic and enrichment activities. We encourage our students to use their voices, build their character, and connect with their communities. The academic component exposes students to a variety of classes and opportunities in order to support their individual interests.
